Kim Albritton is the principle designer and CEO of Focus Design Services of Lithia, Florida, an interior design and consulting firm that combines innovative design solutions with consultation and education intended to advance the practice of Inclusive Design principles.

 

Her credentials include a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist designation, and training as a Certified Charrette Planner.  She is an Allied Member of ASID and a member of the steering committee for Women in Architecture (a division of AIA in Tampa Bay). 

 

She has enjoyed much recognition for her design work, fine art and communications abilities and has had written work chosen for publication and presentation at the international conference for inclusive design, Include 2009, in London, England.  In April of 2010, she traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii to present an interactive workshop on the subject of inclusive design at the Pacific Rim International Conference on Disabilities.  In January 2011, Kim began conducting the "Inviting Others to Play in Your Sandbox" collaborative design workshops, the first of which was held in Dallas, TX for the Dallas Independent Designers Society.  

 Kim enjoys using her leadership skills and passion for design to educate and mentor others and it is this passion that fueled the birth of the first  Visions of an Inclusive Community conference held in Tampa in October of 2010.  Additionally, she has been a guest on the Caregiver Network radio show and guest panelist on the Vital Living Forum television program, as well as a featured speaker at the Central Florida National Aging in Place Council annual meeting in Orlando in 2011. 

 

She has served as a guest faculty member for Lifelines Academy, and has authored three IDCEC approved continuing education workshops.  Keeping to her mission to positively influence the next generation of designers, she serves as a mentor in the "Access to Design Professions" program sponsored by the Institute for Human Centered Design.
