Dramatic changes took place in the redesign of this waiting room.  Dark furnishings, wallpaper and chair rail were removed to visually extend the height of the 8 foot ceilings and create the illusion of a larger space.  The original brick fireplace and its raised hearth were demolished and replaced with a beautiful stacked stone facade.  Window treatments were kept minimal to allow for ample natural light to penetrate the space.

Contemporary furnishings are designed with neutral, contrasting tones and are accented with a warm, cherry wood finish.  The carpet has an organic pattern mimicking the ripple pattern visible on the surface of the sea.  The overall color  theme and material selections for this project were designed to enhance relaxation for the patient while touching their innate need to commune with nature.

Outdated overhead light fixtures and sconces have been replaced with warm, recessed lighting equipped with dimmer switches.  The fireplace facade is highlighted through the use of directional wallwasher fixtures.  Yet another element of nature and a splash of color are brought in through a plant feature to enhance the appearance of the fireplace.  The large, open window that once was an obstacle when it came to noise control, privacy and work productivity was enclosed and replaced with a smaller opening for check-in acitivity.  This solution was very successful in addressing all of the issues of concern.
